Children 1-3 months generally are able to do the following:

  • Opens mouth when bottle/breast is offered 
  • Shows recognition of and prefers primary caregiver(s) 
  • Explores objects by mouthing 
  • Alerts or shows brief interest in and excitement to surroundings
  • Pays attention to sights and sounds in the environment 
  • Prefers novel to familiar objects
  • Tracks movement 
  • Waves arms at dangling toys
