Gross / Large Motor

Children 1-3 months generally are able to do the following:

Gross Motor:

  • Brings hands towards center of body when lying on back 
  • Raises head and cheek for a short period of time while lying on stomach 
  • Supports upper body with arms for a short period of time while lying on stomach 
  • Stretches legs out when lying on stomach or back 
  • Begins to roll
  • Holds head erect and steady while being held upright for a short period of time 
  • Waves arms and legs when placed on back 
  • Turns head to side when placed on stomach 
  • Lays head down onto the ground instead of dropping it
