Children 1-3 months generally are able to do the following:

• Makes eye contact when feeding or diapering 
• Begins to develop a social smile
• Enjoys interacting with other people 
• Regulates and adjusts to caregiving routines: sleeping, eating, napping
• Explores visually by looking at hands
• Cries to express needs 
• Calms when familiar adult offers appropriate comfort
