Gross / Large Motor

Children 19-24 months generally are able to do the following:

  • Walks towards a stationary ball and kicks it 
  • Climbs onto and down from furniture unsupported 
  • Walks up and down stairs with support while putting both feet on each step  
  • Runs easily without falling or bumping into things 
  • Jumps with two feet leaving floor at same time 
  • Extends body in order to reach object (e.g., extending arms over head, or using tiptoes)
  • Marches using high knees 
  • Sidesteps across beam or sandbox edge
