Fine / Small Motor

Children 3-8 months generally are able to do the following:

Fine Motor:

  • Transfers objects from hand to hand 
  • Uses raking grasp (not pincer) 
  • Holds object placed in hand for sustained period
  • Moves both arms toward toy in midline (center of body) 
  • Visually tracks toy or object in a circle 
  • Waves toy around when in grasp 
  • Picks up small toys with one hand
