Gross / Large Motor
Children 30-36 months generally are able to do the following:
- Independently walks to navigate their environment
- Runs and jumps with 2 feet leaving the floor
- Climbs stairs in a standing position without support
- Uses a tot-sized playground such as small slides, simple ladders, wiggle bridges, etc.
- Throws a ball overhand while standing
- Catches a ball by trapping
- Kicks a stationary ball
- Balancing skills including squats to pick up toys from the floor, stands on tiptoes to reach overhead, maintains kneeling while playing
- Experiments with different ways to move: walks across the room, increases pace to fast walk, walks backwards, and marches
