Children 30-36 months generally are able to do the following:

  • Separates from caregivers in a familiar setting 
  • Plays next to other children and sometimes with them
  • Starting to seek out preferred playmates
  • Show pride in accomplishments by saying, “Look at me!”
  • Recognize themselves in photographs
  • Become aware of others’ feelings and respond with concern or affection 
  • Respond appropriately to the simple needs of others (e.g. giving a child a ball when asked)
