Gross / Large Motor

Children 36-42 months generally are able to do the following:

  • Throws and kick a ball forward 
  • Catches a ball by trapping (e.g., arms up together)
  • Jumps with 2 feet together leaving the floor moving forward
  • Pedals a tricycle and pull things in a wagon 
  • Climbs on simple playground equipment 
  • Runs avoiding obstacles 
  • Imitates standing on one foot for 3 seconds 
  • Imitates simple bilateral movements of limbs (e.g., Arms up together)  
  • Walks up stairs alternating feet and down stairs placing both feet on each step without support
