Children 42-48 months generally are able to do the following:

  • Transitions from whole arm movements to using more refined wrist and finger movements to grasp a crayon or utensil.
  • Imitates lines and circles with a writing tool when modeled by an adult 
  • Snips and cuts forward on a line with scissors 
  • Pours water into containers 
  • Strings large beads
  • Sews lacing cards
  • Squeezes tongs
