Math

Children 42-48 months generally are able to do the following:

  • Counts 1-10 
  • Counts 5 or more objects
  • Recognize and name up to 5 numbers
  • Understands the concepts of “same and different” 
  • Identifies basic shapes (circle, square, triangle), and they can sort by a single characteristic (e.g. put all the red blocks together)
  • Follows simple directions related to proximity
  • Knows the usual sequence of basic daily events
  • Compares and orders a small set of objects according to size
