Children 42-48 months generally are able to do the following:
- Counts 1-10
- Counts 5 or more objects
- Recognize and name up to 5 numbers
- Understands the concepts of “same and different”
- Identifies basic shapes (circle, square, triangle), and they can sort by a single characteristic (e.g. put all the red blocks together)
- Follows simple directions related to proximity
- Knows the usual sequence of basic daily events
- Compares and orders a small set of objects according to size
