Fine / Small Motor

Children 48-60 months generally are able to do the following:

  • Learns to draw +, diagonal lines, and a square
  • Learns to write their name in uppercase letters 
  • Positions the scissors correctly and can cut straight lines and simple shapes while using their helper hand to turn the paper
  • Begins to prefer using one hand over the other
  • Begins to use stencils to trace 
  • Touches the tip of each finger to their thumb
