Fine / Small Motor

Children 5-6 years old generally are able to do the following:

  • Holds a utensil with a tripod (3 finger) grasp 
  • Copies basic shapes such as a square and a triangle and color within the lines 
  • Writes their first name in uppercase letters and are beginning to write it in lower case in correct sequence, form, and orientation 
  • Cuts on a line and cut basic shapes such as a square, triangle, or rectangle 
  • Draws a person with at least 10 body parts 
  • Completes a 20 piece puzzle
