Children 5-6 years old generally are able to do the following:

  • Follows classroom/school rules
  • Follows classroom routines
  • Stays on task (during academic activities) for 12-15 minutes
  • Follows multi-step directions
  • Completes assigned work independently
  • Demonstrates perseverance
  • Sustains attention to tasks or projects over time can return to activities after interruptions
