Gross / Large Motor
Children 5-6 years old generally are able to do the following:
- Walks up stairs placing one foot on each step without support (and/or holding an object in two hands) and down the stairs placing one foot on each step
- Stands on one foot for more than 8 seconds,
- Jumps forwards 10 times without falling
- Skips after demonstration
- Hangs from a bar for at least 5 seconds, throw a ball overhand and underhand stepping forward with same foot as throwing hand
- Catches a small ball with hands only
- Pumps and maintain momentum on a swing
- Climbs the rungs of a playground ladder
