Fine / Small Motor

Children 8-12  months generally are able to do the following:

Fine Motor:

• Uses pincer grasp (grasp using thumb and index finger to pick up small objects)
• Bangs two palm-sized toys together 
• Takes objects out of container one by one 
• Pokes with index finger 
• Transfers small objects from one hand to another (e.g., transferring cheerios from one hand to another)
• Drops small object with purposeful release
